Arduaine Garden is full of colour and fragrance, evoking glamorous destinations. This is no coincidence – the garden was begun in 1898 at a time when curiosity about foreign travel and an appetite for the exotic were all the rage.

Arduaine lies on a rocky promontory at the head of the Sound of Jura and enjoys the warming benefits of the North Atlantic Drift, allowing for a wider range of plants than is usual in this part of the world.

The garden nurtures plants from across the globe – from East Asia to South America. Red hot pokers, sensuous camellias, tree ferns and water lilies create a palette of vibrant colour, whatever the season.

We’re addressing the challenge of Phythopthora in the shelterbelt at the garden. Come and see how we’re tackling this problem, to ensure the future safety of our incredible plant collection.

The lower garden at Arduaine is unaffected by this work.
