Circular medal with faded blue ribbon and medal band with 'Nepaul' engraved upon it.
Image on front depicts a seated, winged figure holding a laurel wreath with 'The Army of India' written above the figure.
Similar, smaller medal (possibly used as a watch chain) also included in box. In a rectangular, black leather box lined with blue velvet. Additional medal ribbons inside box. Small note inside box details that the medal belonged to James Glencairn Burns, Robert Burns' son.
The Army of India Medal was a retrospective award created by the East India Company, given to to survivors of various actions during the period 1803–1826.
