Description
A dark wooden armchair, with whole wooden rectangular back, with panelled splat, on whole wooden seat. With two armrests, slightly concave, on squared legs joined all around by squared streatchers.
With metal plaque on the back inscribed 'This chair belonged to William Burnes and Agnes Broun, parents of the poet Robert Burns, it was gifted to their niece Margret Hutchison, on the occasion of her marriage to Henry Couan, Half-Merkland, Dalrymple, 1770'.
