Description

Set of eight mahogany chairs reported to have belonged to Robert Burns.

Set comprises two carvers and six chairs without arms. All with rectangular top rail, slightly concave, and with splat formed of three columns in stylised and narrow vase shaped, the central one also pierced.

With seat covered in brown leather. On square tapering legs joined on three sides by stretchers. Reported to have been used by Robert while living at Ellisland Farm, from 1788 to 1791.
