Description

Snuff box which reportedly belonged to Robert Burns.

Taken from the tobacco plant and snorted through the nose, snuff was commonly used by gentlemen in the late 18th century. The effect of snuff was to deliver a swift hit of nicotine, similar to injesting Snus, smoking Tobacco or Vaping, today.

There are many snuff boxes within the Robert Burns Birthplace museum collection, which reportedly belonged to Robert Burns. Small tokens or relics related to Burns were often collected by Victorian Burns enthusiasts and later donated to the musuem's collections.
