Description
Pencil portrait of Robert Burns. In heavy wooden frame. Reverse features a photo of ship, signatures and note in Russian.
The portrait was drawn by sailors of the St Petersburg-registered Olga Ulyanova. It was presented to the museum as a mark of their esteem for Robert Burns and as a sign that, even during the Cold War, the spirit of Burns could help to foster friendship between Scottish and Russian people.
