Description

Large, cast-iron compass, with set square. Possibly masonic.

Most easily identifiable symbol of Freemasonry. Stand for the architects and stone-masons guilds that were the fore-runners of the Masonic companies.

As emblems they are meant to teach symbolic lessons. According to the principles of Freemasonry, there are no specific meanings attached to each symbol. Candidates need to interpret for themselves. Generally though, measuring instruments stand for judgement and discernment.
