Description
Black and white, transfer printed plate with depictions of the signatories of the Declaration of American Independence in 1776. Produced for 200th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.
Although Burns wrote Scots Wha Hae primarily about Scotland’s struggle for independence, it had been inspired too by conflicts ‘less ancient’. This was clearly a reference to the recent revolution in France, and America’s breakaway from Great Britain in 1776, an event commemorated on this plate.
