This framed print is a design for a monument in memory of "Highland Mary" which was proposed to be erected in the cemetery in Greenock where Mary Campbell was buried. The monument, unveiled in 1842, was designed by John G. Mossman (1817-1890) noted for many sculptures in the Glasgow area..

In 1920 it was decided to close down the cemetery due to expansion of the nearby shipyard and the contents of the grave were reinterred among some controversy relating to an infant coffin found in the same lair.
