White marble bust of Robert Burns, based on a a bronze statue by Sir John Steel.

This carved bust by Sir John Steell is based on his bronze statue and is one of several which he carved in marble, one of which rests in the Poet's Corner in Westminster Abbey, London. The London sculpture was unveiled on 7 March 1885.

Sir John Steell RSA was the son of an Aberdeen wood carver who became a most distinguished sculptor and introduced the technique of bronze casting to Scotland. His full size bronze sculpture of Burns are to be seen in New York, Dundee, Dunedin and London.
