Description
A black and white engraving of Tam o'Shanter on his grey mare Meg being pursued over the Brig o'Doon in Alloway. Accompanied by some verses from the poem underneath. In wooden frame.
This engraving by J. Scott in 1845 depicts Tam 0`Shanter on his grey mare Meg being pursued over the Brig 0`Doon in Alloway. Today the ruined Kirk Alloway and the Brig 0`Doon still stand, having been immortalized in this famous poem. It is reported that Robert Burns based the character of Tam on a local Ayrshire farmer named Douglas Graham.
