Description

Burns Centenary commemorative glazed and mirrored frame enclosing an impression of the Poet's wax seal in red.

The seal referred to in the letter of Robert Burns to Alexander Cunningham dated 3rd March, 1794. This was marked as taken from Burns' Seal, but impression does not match seal listed elsewhere in the collection.

The framed certificate reads; "In Memorium Robert Burns, the Ayrshire Bard. Born 25th January 1759 - Died 21st July 1796. A Tribute of Love and Admiration in Commemoration of the Centenary Celebration of his Death. This impression in wax was made with the Poet Burns's own original Seal, now in possession of his great grand-daughter (lineal descendant) Mrs Martha Burns Thomas".
