Description
A framed silhouette of John Wilson, Dr. Hornbook, in wooden ribbed frame. With pencil hand-written note on reverse of frame.
Robert Burns wrote a poem based on a Tarbolton schoolteacher John Wilson (1759-1821) who in order to eke out a scanty living opened up a small grocer's shop. Here he sold medicines and offered medical advice. This led the parishioners to accuse him of neglecting his school duties.
