Description
Bible bound in two halves, which belonged to Highland Mary. a: Vol 1, b: Vol II, c: Lock of Highland Mary's hair, which was preserved in the Bible.
The bible (in 2 halves) were given to Mary by Burns on their supposed betrothal on the banks of the Ayr, as a token of their fidelity. Robert Burns and Mary planned to emigrate to Jamaica and she went home to Greenock to prepare for the journey. She contracted a fever and died.
