Description

The water colour painting (artist unknown) depicts the Burns Monument in Alloway around the period it was completed in 1823. Some figures are present in the foreground.

The Monument, the first memorial anywhere to the memory of the Poet, was built by public subscription and is built in the Grecian style overlooking the Brig O'Doon.
