Description

A reduced size plaster model of the statue of Robert Burns by George A. Lawson erected in Burns Statue Square, Ayr.

This example has been coloured to simulate a weathered bronze finish. The full size statue was unveiled in 1891.

The statue by Lawson in Ayr built up a reputation as being one of the more successful Burns sculptures and was the model for many other such statues around the world notably in Melbourne (Australia), Detroit (USA) and Vancouver, Montreal and Winnipeg (Canada).
