Description
Letter from Robert Burns, son of the Poet, to Miss Grace Haugh, 18 September, 1851.
Robert Burns Junior or Robert Burns ll (1786–1857) was the first born son of the poet, to his wife Jean Amour Burns. His sister Jean Burns died in infancy.
Educated at Dumfries Grammar School, he worked at the Stamp office in the department of the Treasury for 27 years. He was retired early from his position in part due to gambling debts. He married Anne Sherwood on 24 March 1809 at St Marylebone Parish Church and the couple had a daughter, Eliza; later after the couple separated, he lived with his common law wife Emma Bland.
