Reproduction of the death of Robert Burns, eldest son of the Poet, 14 May 1857
Robert Burns was the eldest son of the poet Robert Burns. He and his twin sister Jean, who did not survive infancy, were born on 3 September 1786. Robert became a Clerk at Somerset House, London and remained in London throughout most of his life. He died in Dumfries on 14 May 1857 and is buried in his father's Mausoleum.
