Wooden Knitting guard which reportedly belonged to Burns' Mother. Included alongside of this is a certificate to Knitting guard's authenticity.
Knitting guards are tool which was used by knitters to keep the wool and needles in position, when work stopped on a garment under construction. This knitting guard is said to have belonged to Agnes Broun, who was mother of the poet Robert Burns.
