Description
Engraving of Friars Carse, Dumfrieshire, the residence of D.r Smith, Shows house exterior with figures and sheep in foreground. Drawn and engraved by J Greig J Storer & J Greig Chapel Street Pentonville.
Dr Smith is associated to Burns through his restoration of the Hermitage, a secluded writing den used by Burns during his time at Ellisland. The previous owner was Captain Robert Riddell, who died in 1794, two years before Burns.
