Description
Stirrup cup used at the Tam O' Shanter Inn, Ayrshire. Inscribed with quotations from 'Tam O'Shanter'. Made of wooden staves, bound together by willow wand; with two square projecting handles (one handle now missing). The inside is metal lined, and two silver mounts carrying engraved inscriptions have been added.
The stirrup cup was used by frequenters of Tam O'Shanter's Inn, Ayr which was the public house on which Burns based his poem.
