Description

Oak hall chair with double scroll back painted in gold with Burns's crest and motto 'better a wee bush than nae bield'.

Chair was donated to the Monument Committee in 1827 to furnish the interior chamber of the Monument erected in 1823. Front turned legs, rear square legs.

Brass plate affixed to back stating 'From Sir James Boswell, Auchinleck, Baronet 1827'.
