Trusts, foundations and grants

We rely on funding from trusts, foundations and grant-giving organisations to carry out our work to protect Scotland’s magnificent heritage and share it with everyone.

Here are some examples of the difference that support from trusts, foundations and grants has made:

The National Lottery Heritage Fund

This organisation has supported many projects that bring Scotland’s heritage to life in exciting and innovative ways, including Robert Burns Birthplace Museum, Battle of Bannockburn and Mackintosh at the Willow.

Our supporters in the United States are dedicated to helping us conserve and protect Scotland’s most iconic and inspiring places, including the Hill House, Glencoe, Culzean Castle & Country Park and the Isle of Canna.

Museums and Galleries Scotland

This organisation has supported projects at our accredited museums across Scotland, from conserving a collection of rare Napoleonic coins at Brodick Castle on Arran, to supporting the development of resources for children at Culloden Battlefield, where the Jacobite army made their final stand.

People’s Postcode Lottery

Funding raised by players of People’s Postcode Lottery has supported us for over 10 years, awarded through the Postcode Earth Trust, most recently helping us to protect our wild places and National Nature Reserves and make them more accessible for everybody.

The Row Fogo Charitable Trust

Set up in memory of Mrs Row Fogo, this trust has enabled us to undertake transformational garden projects across our properties – from repairing our historic glasshouses in Malleny Garden and Falkland Palace (where we grow specimens from across the globe) to supporting our Trust-wide PLANTS project that’s helping to inventory and research what we hold in our vast collection. Thanks to this support, we now understand more about some of the rare and wonderful plant life that we care for.
