Ways to give

Share your love for Scotland, and play your part in our mission to champion nature, beauty and heritage for everyone!

So many of our vital conservation projects wouldn’t be possible without the generosity of people making donations to the Trust. People in Scotland and all over the world contribute to our work, spread the word, and raise vital funds. Giving directly to the Trust lets you support our work, with a focus on the projects or areas that mean the most to you. Even small donations make a big difference, and there are lots of ways to give.

Gifts in Wills

The Trust’s mission is to protect Scotland’s heritage. By including a gift in your Will, you can help to care for our places and keep them accessible for future generations.

Every legacy gift, no matter the size, supports our work across the country, and ensures that others will continue to share moments, memories and adventures across the places in our care.

We’re deeply grateful for every legacy gift to our charity, and we make a special promise to those who choose to support us in such a meaningful way.

A story of an amazing legacy

Early in 2023 we received a hugely generous legacy donation from Mrs Colquhoun, a Life Member of the Trust who lived in Canada and gifted all of her residuary estate to our charity – this meant she had donated over £1.8m to places in our care over 37 years.

Mrs Colquhoun’s gift was made in loving memory of her husband, as were donations she made to places such as Crarae Garden and Glencoe, and it will support our work across various important projects, from the restoration of the Hill House to our work protecting our islands and precious seabirds, and repairs to our beloved historic castles.

NTS Foundation USA

The dedicated National Trust for Scotland Foundation USA (NTSUSA) was set up to allow Americans to show their love and support for Scotland from afar. Their generous donations contribute to the protection of Scotland’s heritage and natural beauty.

Without the support of NTSUSA members and friends, so many important projects wouldn’t have been possible.

The impact of American donations

Donations from America have contributed to some fantastic projects. Money from a small number of donors in New York, LA and beyond has paid for the Burns Online Access Project in full, while the generosity of all NTSUSA donors helped the Trust to acquire the Treshnish Isles and ensured we could protect this spectacular Hebridean landscape while celebrating its long and fascinating history.

Corporate Support & Partnerships

Building your business; inspiring your employees; building brand loyalty the list of benefits for businesses who support or partner with the Trust is long.

We work with businesses in lots of ways, from high-profile multi-year partnerships to sponsorship for one-off projects, co-branded products, and being a nominated charity of the year. Not only does this help us achieve our mission, but it helps those businesses reach our huge audience of members and visitors to our properties and our website.

Spotlight on: A pioneering partnership with The Glenlivet

Working with The Glenlivet we set up the Pioneering Spirit partnership in 2020 – a nationwide archaeology and research programme that is the first of its kind and aims to unearth new and old stories about the illicit whisky trade in Scotland.

In 2021, our Big Dig took place at the site of the old Glenlivet distillery and uncovered old building footprints as well as a wide range of artefacts, showing what can happen when businesses share our mission to tell Scotland’s story!
