The National Plant Collections here at Branklyn are an important part of the garden. Part of a registered conservation scheme, National Collections of specific plant types are overseen by Plant Heritage, and the collections are registered and documented. Careful records are kept, including a map of the garden with all the beds and plant locations marked. This scheme creates an incredible resource of specialist knowledge for the future.
Here at Branklyn we currently have the privilege of hosting 3 collections:
Cassiope, Meconopsis and Rhododendron (series Taliense).
Rhododendron and meconopsis can be found throughout the garden, while the cassiopes grow in a specific few locations.
