The beautiful kitchen garden to the rear of the Palace is a re-creation, incorporating features that would have been found in a garden of the early 17th century. The garden allows for relaxation and recuperation and produces fresh produce for use in the café and often for sale. You will find many examples of flowers and plants for medicinal use, and the covered walkways, arbours, exedra (an outdoor recess containing a seat), flowery mead and formal beds are full of plants with a specific purpose, and plants grown for their scent.
