Below Stairs Books
Nestled in the atmospheric servants’ quarters of the Georgian House, our new book shop gives pre-loved books a new chapter of life and supports the timeless tradition of storytelling as well as our commitment to sustainable practices.
The Georgian House has a rich history at the heart of Edinburgh’s literary and cultural heritage and has witnessed centuries of stories, secrets and connections to Scotland’s literary past. From surprising ties to celebrated authors including Robert Louis Stevenson and J M Barrie, to its role in Edinburgh’s historical fabric, the house is steeped in tales waiting to be discovered.
The stock is regularly refreshed and is thoughtfully curated into fiction, non-fiction, local interest and children’s sections.
You can also embrace your inner Walter Scott and take a photo at our writing table in the corner of the shop, emulating one of his silhouettes.
Below Stairs Books is open daily between 10am and 5pm.
