Visitors can explore the captivating tale of one of Scotland’s key figures from the 19th century. Hugh Miller, a fossil hunter, folklorist, Christian, stonemason, geologist, newspaper editor and advocate for social justice, made a significant impact on Scottish culture through his extensive work.
This Georgian house, once the residence of Hugh Miller and his wife Lydia, is now a museum which showcases the life of a prominent individual from Victorian Scotland.
The museum features artefacts highlighting Hugh’s journey, including remarkable fossil finds, manuscripts, a shepherd's plaid and a stonemason’s mallet.
Visitors can also get hands-on with fossils in our interactive handling collection.
