Step into our exhibition room and journey back in time with the original Peter Pan costumes. Hand-sewn from leather and fabric, these iconic pieces with applique leaves on both costumes hold a significant place in theatre history. The back originally featured a gap to accommodate the flying wires, a testament to the costumes’ roles in bringing the beloved character to life.
Pauline Chase wore the leather costume for six seasons from 1904, and Jean Forbes-Robson, who played the part from 1927–39, wore the fabric costume.
The blue velvet suit J M Barrie wore when he was invested with the Order of Merit in 1922 is also displayed.
