Working farm

The farm is a short ten-minute walk from the museum along paths that overlook fields and hedgerows. You can also take a ride on the farm explorer tractor-trailer — reserve your seat at the museum’s information desk (seats are available on a first-come, first-served basis).

Experience the farm’s sights, sounds and smells, and look out for the animals – Ayrshire, Aberdeen Angus and Highland cattle, Tamworth pigs, sheep, hens, Clydesdale horses and resident farm cats. Explore the outbuildings and visit the milking byre to see the experts milk the Ayrshire dairy herd. Then visit the model cow to try it yourself!
