Pitmedden Garden

About this place

Re-created Scottish Renaissance walled garden with vibrant floral designs and Museum of Farming Life

  • Be amazed at over 30,000 annual bedding plants that make up the colourful designs in the parterres.
  • Visit the Museum of Farming Life which brings the agricultural past to life.
  • Admire our young orchard as well as the historical espalier apple trees which line our garden walls.
  • Explore the woodland around the garden on the waymarked trails.

Brilliant design in the form of vibrant colours and meticulously manicured shapes give Pitmedden Garden its unique charm. With almost 6 miles of clipped hedging, sculptures and built heritage, the parterres at the heart of the garden are a masterpiece of intricate patterns and fragrant flowers.

In 2021 we reimagined the upper terrace parterre for the modern world with a fresh, sustainable garden. A biodiverse, species-rich meadow weaves and drifts, offering changing patterns and colours. Combined with our orchard of more than 200 fruit trees, Pitmedden really is a delight for the senses.
