Smail’s Stationer’s Shop was a stationer and newsagent from the 1860s until Cowan Smail retired in the 1980s. It sold books, gifts, decorative paper cuts and prints, stationery, pens, pencils, ink, ‘fancy goods‘, and shoes. Today, we stock much of the same — including locally made jewellery, hand-turned wooden pens, cards, calendars and posters printed at Smail’s using the original printing equipment.
