The 200-year-old loom is the last working handloom in the village of Kilbarchan, and one of the few remaining in Scotland. It’s a source of knowledge from past generations that we’re still learning today.
The large loom belonged to William Meikle, the final handloom weaver in Kilbarchan who retired in the late 1950s. Renowned for promoting his craft, he was both a colourful personality and an exceptionally talented weaver.
Visitors can try their hand at the loom and learn more about this fascinating traditional skill.
