Newhailes Squared art exhibition
Newhailes Squared showcases a variety of different artwork from over 100 entries submitted by members of the local community, demonstrating their love and affection for the Palladian mansion and estate now in the care of the National Trust for Scotland.
Artists were challenged to create an artwork using the medium of their choice within a 10in x 10in canvas. The piece should be inspired by Newhailes. The artwork has then gone on display in a marquee in the Stables Courtyard.
Dixie Sudron, the National Trust for Scotland’s Events Manager at Newhailes, said: ‘We’re really excited to launch the Newhailes Squared art exhibition as a celebration of the local community who support us here throughout the year. Many local residents have been visiting the property with their families for years. Newhailes holds a special place in people’s hearts, and we wanted the artwork to celebrate this.’
Dixie continued: ‘Holding the exhibition is a great way to showcase the widely held love and affection for the estate as well as supporting our Nature, Beauty and Heritage for Everyone strategy and our objective to be a leading provider of inspiring heritage visitor experiences.’
The Newhailes Squared artwork on display is also available to buy, with 10% of the proceeds going to the Trust to support our conservation work in continuing to protect Scotland’s natural and cultural heritage.
Newhailes House & Gardens was once owned by the Dalrymple family. It sits within an impressive woodland landscape, with views across the River Forth. The 18th-century mansion features rococo interiors, Italian marble fireplaces, a Chinese sitting room and an impressive art collection.
The Newhailes Squared art exhibition runs daily from 11am–3pm until Sunday 12 February, and can be found in the Stables Courtyard.
The house is open for pre-booked tours during winter. The estate is open daily. We look forward to welcoming you!
