Have you considered volunteering at Inverewe? It’s a fantastic opportunity to connect with the local community, meet visitors, share your passion for nature, and contribute to this special place. This is what inspired Jules Ramsay Tasker to become Inverewe’s Ambassador.

Jules started as Inverewe’s Ambassador in 2022. With a keen eye for exotic plants and an interest in gardening at home, Jules finds kindred spirits visiting Inverewe throughout the season. Through the support of volunteers like Jules, the Trust can share its incredible places with visitors from across the world.

Jules has a natural talent for conversation and readily engages with visitors to the garden. She typically volunteers as Inverewe Ambassador once a week during the open season. In this role, she serves as a welcoming presence for visitors, answering their questions and sometimes accompanying them on spontaneous garden tours. With her experience as a garden guide at Inverewe from a few years back, Jules has the expertise necessary for leading tours, which she applies to her ambassador role.

Quote
“Jules provides a vital link between the team in the visitor centre and our visitors in the garden, enhancing their visitor experience. We have had so much positive feedback on the days Jules is in.”
Elizabeth Line
Visitor Services Manager at Inverewe

Jules enjoys a flexible schedule in her role, focusing on a few daily tasks while on-site. Each day, she starts by visiting the visitor centre to connect with the team and gather any updates about the garden. This often leads to discussions about which plants are currently blooming, any exciting discoveries, or wildlife sightings. Jules ensures she shares this information with visitors, adding a special touch to their experience.

After her check-in at the visitor centre, Jules typically heads to the walled garden, easily recognisable in her high-vis jacket. Visitors often seek her out, drawn to her friendly demeanour. They come with various questions, eager to learn more about the plants and flowers around them. With her passion for gardening and knowledge of different plant species, Jules can usually provide answers. If asked a question she can't answer, she makes it a point to follow up with the gardening team and relay the information to the visitors before they leave, ensuring a personalised and memorable experience.
